SPACE was great fun, as always.

Sold a few books, bought (and traded for) a ton. Top Shelf's table was located right across the aisle from mine. I wuz doomed! It was cool seeing people queue up for Andy Runton, though.

I was in a bloc with the UFO guys -- Jim Coon, James West, Matt Dembicki (he's got con photos up on his site already, including this one of me, Tony B., and Tony's fiancee Amanda), Jason DeGroot, Terry Flippo, Tony Brandl, and oh god I know I'm forgetting someone (Rafer Roberts was there too -- more photos). The UFO panel was a sad affair, with the panelists outnumbering the audience. But we soldiered on and prattled about art and commerce and community as if someone was actually listening.

James West had a preview copy of his upcoming full-color book Pan-Gea. Jesus Jumping Christ, this is the most gorgeous-looking comic I've seen... well, pretty much ever. You must buy this.

Also be on the lookout for Pam Bliss' new ongoing series Kekionga, which features my new favorite superhero, the 100% irony-free Foursquare.

Jennifer Hachigian tells great stories (ask her to tell you the one about The Crow, Garth from "Wayne's World", and wallets), and can also explain why they're great stories. And oh boy, wait'll you see what happens in the next issue of Lore. Ouchie. And now that I've seen her spiffy-keen moleskine, I want one too.

It was a blast seeing Wendi Strang-Frost and Sean Frost again. And with Matt D. there, and Tim Fischer putting in a brief appearance, we had almost the entire contributor crew from FT #16 (minus Eric Hess -- you better get your ass down here next year, Eric).

In case there was any doubt that Larry Blake is a mad genius: He extends the life of his printer cartridges by refilling them with food coloring. I kid thee not.

Oh my gosh, but we cartoonists are gossipy bitches. We were trash-talking everyone behind their backs (except Tony Brandl; him we trash-talked to his face). I hate to think what they were saying about me when I wasn't there.

In short, it had everything you need for a great con. Big round of applause for impresario Bob Corby.

Found out yesterday that Karen's and my pitch was accepted for the next volume of Smut Peddler. I'm pretty pumped up about this, especially after not getting in last time. Looking forward to finding out who the other contributors are...
