This is pretty interesting -- Henry Kujawa has taken a bunch of old comics covers (mostly '70s Marvel) that he thought were below par, and retouched them to bring them up to snuff. His changes range from just tweaking the color scheme to cobbling together an entirely new illustration. I don't agree with his choices in all cases, but a lot of them look pretty sharp. And it's a good example of how different designers can get totally different results from the same basic material:
