Whimsical, surreal, and beautiful. The hapless Nemo trekked through one vivid dreamscape after another, sometimes serene, sometimes perilous, only to inevitably wake up in his own bed in the final panel. McCay was a master draftsman, lending authenticity to even the most impossible scenes.
