DC Villains
Episode 12 (part 2):
"Servants of DEMON!"
[Partly inspired by: Superman #191 - "Prisoner of DEMON" by Jim Shooter and Justice League #2 - "Make War No More!" by Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis]

Roll Call:
Bucky
Captain Republican
Chemical Lad
Mr. Roboto

Picking up from last week's session:
After several weeks of work, Dr. Sivana announced that the Star of Sinsubhani-powered Weapon of Mass Destruction was ready to be tested. The DEMON terrorists announced that their leader, the mysterious Dr. Demo, would be on hand to view the demonstration, which was exactly what the villains were hoping for.

Demo arrived with his "inner circle" of most trusted confederates: the electronic "ghost" Djinn, the cybernetically-enhanced Manticore, and flame-powered Sunburst. Just as Sivana was about to throw the switch on his weapon, the villains attacked. Dr. Demo fought back with his Disintegrator pistol and combat-enhancing glove [Natural Weaponry], while Manticore made heavy use of the Power Blaster built into his tail, and Sunburst pelted the battlefield with fireballs. Djinn managed to temporarily shut down some of the villains' equipment [Gear Control], but this proved to be just a minor setback and he switched to pelting them with electrified punches [Contact attacks from his Electrical Field]. The rest of the DEMON terrorists provided support with their lightning-blasting spears. In the end, however, Demo and his crew were no match for the ruthless villains who had infiltrated their ranks. Djinn and Manticore were taken out, followed by Dr. Demo -- the latter defeat causing his troops to lose morale and fall on their spears, feeling that they had failed their master. Sunburst, not liking his odds, surrendered at this point.

The villains retrieved the Star of Sinsubhani, and Sivana admitted that the rumors of it being some super-powerful energy source were just bunk. The device he built would have done nothing but put out an impressive light show, which he hoped to use to cover his escape. He was taken into custody, along with the defeated terrorists, and the threat of DEMON was ended...at least for now.

[Loot Drops: Djinn's Eyepatch (Gear Control), Dr. Demo's Mask (Experience Levels), and Manticore's Tail (Power Blast with Area Effect).]

DC Villains
Episode 13:
"Life vs. Anti-Life!"
[Partly inspired by Forever People #3 - "Life vs. Anti-Life" by Jack Kirby and Suicide Squad #3 - "Jailbreak" by John Ostrander]

Roll Call:
Bucky
Captain Republican
Chemical Lad
Mr. Roboto

The team arrived back in the States, only to be informed that they would be shipping out again, this time to Central America. It seemed a small, nihilistic religious cult called "The Church of Anti-Life" was making its presence known and growing in popularity among disaffected youth. Not normally something the U.S. government would directly intervene with, but one of the cult's followers was the daughter of a prominent Senator. The villains were sent down to ensure her safety, and to determine if the cult and its leader, the so-called "Glorious Godfrey", were a threat to American interests.

They arrived in Guatemala, where the church had formed a small commune of believers. Godfrey himself was speaking at a rally, extolling the virtues of "Anti-Life", which consisted of surrendering one's free will to an unnamed "Master". Captain Republican thought he was actually making some good points, but when they saw suspicious-looking "fruit punch" being passed around to the crowd, they decided this was getting a little too "Jonestown" for their tastes and decided to break up the rally.

Among Godfrey's followers were a quartet of super-powered misfits known as "The Outsiders": The four-armed Amazing Ronnie, venomous Lizard Johnny, Hairy Larry, his stunted body fused with an armored go-kart, and the massively strong Mighty Mary. Ronnie's single large eye zoomed in on the invisible Bucky, and he pummeled him with all four fists, eventually knocking him out (though he did recover later in the battle). Johnny managed to inflict his poison on Captain Republican, but his reptilian regeneration abilities couldn't outpace the damage Cap's fists were doing. Larry repeatedly rammed his kart into Mr. Roboto, followed up by shots from the vehicle's built-in lasers, while Mighty Mary pounded on Chemical Lad, her scaly hide mostly resistant to his acidic secretions.

The Outsiders gave a good accounting of themselves, but slowly their ranks were thinned out by the villains. As the tide turned, Glorious Godfrey attempted to use his superhuman persuasive abilities to turn his enemies against each other [Emotion Control], but in the end the team triumphed. Godfrey came along quietly: "I do not engage in fisticuffs with peasants."

[Loot Drops: Glorious Godfrey's Cloak (Invulnerability), Lizard Johnny's Medallion (Regeneration).]

Back at Belle Reve Prison, Amanda Waller attempted to interrogate Godfrey (made difficult by the fact that she had to keep him gagged in order to neutralize his powers). Medical examinations determined that he was some sort of alien, but his true nature remained elusive.

Suddenly, a loud "BOOM" was heard in the middle of the cellblock, and a squad of warriors, calling themselves "Female Furies", appeared out of thin air: Bernadeth, armed with a superheated knife, whip-wielding Lashina, the berserk, steel-clawed Mad Harriet, and Stompa, her boots made for heavy-duty kicking. They stated their intent to liberate Godfrey and deliver him to "The Master", but Godfrey seemed to think this would not be good for his health, and pleaded with his "human friends" to save him. The villains were inclined to let the Furies have him, but Waller said no, they still needed to find out what Godfrey was and where he came from. And so the battle began.

Bernadeth's Fahren-Knife carved big chunks out of Mr. Roboto, while Lashina learned that neither her whip nor her restraining straps [Grapnel] were much use against Chemical Lad. Stompa and Captain Republican traded blows, while Harriet sliced into Bucky, although the paralyzing poison that coated her claws proved mostly ineffective. The opponents switched sparring partners repeatedly, jockeying for advantage, but one by one the Furies fell. Bernadeth was the last one standing, and she summoned another "booming" gateway to make her escape. Godfrey remained in custody, and now they had three more aliens to investigate.

[Loot Drops: Bernadeth's Knife (Special Weapon with a Flame Blast Carrier), Stompa's Boots (Vibratory Blast with 0" Range, and both a single target and Area of Effect option).]

[The player characters earned 3 character points each, giving them a total of 139.]
