Still in hot pursuit of the Arcana Bombs, the Gladiators flew to Australia, where HAL had pinpointed a cave in the Great Dividing Range Mountains. However, when they arrived, they found evidence of an excavation, but no sign of the bomb itself. A news bulletin broadcast over local media hinted at what had happened: A group of terrorists had taken over the Strand Arcade mall in Sydney, and were threatening to detonate a nuclear device if their demands weren't met. Evidently, the group had found the Arcana Bomb and were inspired to use it for an impromptu blackmail scheme.
Speeding to Sydney, the heroes stormed the mall, only to find the dead bodies of the terrorists scattered about, and the sorceress Devilspawn absconding with the bomb. More annoyed than angry, she warned the heroes to leave and let her get on with her work. They opted to attack instead.
Devilspawn

After a brief skirmish, Devilspawn saw that the odds were against her and conceded, allowing the Gladiators to take custody of the bomb. In exchange, they allowed her to leave, since from their perspective, she hadn't really done anything wrong.

HAL located the final bomb, deep within the Tecume Pyramids in Peru. Entering the subterranean chamber, they were surprised to find none other than Ronky, accompanied by a group of robots, including doubles of Dr. Wraithman, Devilspawn, and several opponents of the original Gladiators. Inside a force field, incapacitated with sleeping gas, they saw the real Devilspawn, who had apparently gotten there ahead of them, only to be ambushed.
After his previous defeat, Ronky had concluded that his partner Dr. Wraithman, and magic in general, was to blame for all his problems. He designed the Arcana Bombs to release special radiation that would kill anyone with magical powers. He told the Gladiators that they should be on his side, since getting rid of all the magical supervillains would make their jobs easier. They did not agree with this logic, and the battle began.

A fierce combat ensued, made somewhat easier by the fact that Ronky's robots tended to suffer system failure when damaged [Unliving weakness]. Eventually they pounded down the mass of machines, and Ronky himself, and deactivated the final Arcana Bomb. They also freed Devilspawn, who was ready to kill Ronky for what he'd done, but the heroes wouldn't allow it. She begrudgingly thanked them for "taking out the trash", and made her exit, warning them that although they'd been on the same side this time, in the future they should stay out of her way.

Relaxing at their headquarters one afternoon, the Gladiators received a frantic call from an old adversary: "Blastin' Butch" Floop. In a rush, he told them that he and his fellow Floop Brothers were being chased by "some punk hero group", and ended up in Sugarcreek, Ohio at the height of the annual Cheese Festival. There, they encountered something "really bad". He begged the heroes to come help, but was cut off in mid-sentence: "Whatever you do, don't drink the..."
More curious than concerned, the Gladiators hopped on board their hovercraft and headed for Sugarcreek. They saw the crowds gathered for the festival, but the mood was strangely subdued. The townsfolk slowly staggered around randomly, mumbling slogans in monotone voices: "Milk...it does a body good", "Everything's better with cheese", "I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream". When they spotted the heroes, the people slowly surrounded them, feebly attempting to force various dairy products down their throats.

The zombie-like hordes posed little threat to the team, and were quickly subdued. But clearly, Butch had been correct: Something bad was happening here.
