The first "T.G.I.Friday's" restaurant opened in New York City in 1965. Their second location opened in Memphis, Tennessee in 1970, and now the chain has over 500 locations in various countries. The restaurant was parodied in the 1999 movie "Office Space" as "Chotchkie's", and on the cartoon show "Futurama" as "D.U.I.Friday's".
