Mid-Ohio Con swag
Nov. 28th, 2004 07:12 pmFrom Pam Bliss:
Those Kids: Spookytown
T-Shirt of Adventure (and the actual t-shirt that went with it)
From Matt Feazell:
Cynicalman: Santa Temp! and Other Holiday Favorites
From Steve Lieber:
Family Reunion
Road to Perdition: Detour
From Bob Corby:
Misfit (actually by his daughter Megan)
Untitled (Art Explorer Post 407 anthology)
From Raina Telgemeier:
Smile
Take-Out vol. 2 #1
(also got a peek at her pages for the upcoming DC Bizarro book -- looks fantastic!)
From Max Ink:
Blink Christmas card
From the Top Shelf booth:
Dang! Brand Comics and Stories (by Martin Cendreda)
Comic Book Artist #4 (spotlight on Filipino cartoonists)
From Craig Taillefer:
Wahoo Morris #1-3
(#4 coming soon, he says!)
From Bill Knapp:
Lost Tales of Erin
(His long-awaited graphic novel "A Thorn in the Side" coming in '05!)
From Eric Powell:
The Goon Color Special #1
The Goon #7 (the Hellboy crossover)
From Scott Roberts:
Patty-Cake and Friends #12
From Joanne Ellen Mutch:
Even More Fund Comics (CBLDF benefit anthology)
(Saw pages from the next issue of Rummblestrips, gorgeous pencil renderings)
From David Mack:
Masks of the Noh
(It's become a con tradtion for me to go over to Mack's table and make an absolute fool of myself gushing over his talent. To his credit, he always accepts it graciously, instead of calling security.)
From various dealers:
The Originals (Dave Gibbons' new graphic novel... I've been looking forward to this, didn't even know it was out yet! Holy shit, it's gorgeous.)
Batman Archives vol. 1 (Got it for 20 bucks because it was out of the shrinkwrap, and the dust jacket is a little scratched up -- otherwise it's perfect. Score!)
Marvel Visionaries: Jack Kirby (I've already got about half this stuff in reprints already, but some of it -- like Mercury, the Yellow Claw, Dr. Droom -- would be hard to find anywhere else.)
Also ran into Will Pfeiffer (look for his upcoming work on The Demon, Catwoman, and Batman), Mike Neno (showing off gorgeous, demented artwork from his next book The Signifiers), Mike Carroll, Ray Tomczak, Suzanne Baumann, and I'm sure a few other folks I'm forgetting. Sorry!
A fun con, but I always feel like a schmuck when I don't have anything new to show off. Hopefully by SPACE...
