My pick for day six is...

Batman 1943-1946
by Bob Kane and various
There have been various attempts to bring comic book heroes to the newspaper page. Many of them, frankly, have looked pretty half-hearted and tossed-off. But this was the real deal, smartly written and slickly drawn by the same top talents who were working on the comics. It didn't take off with the newspaper audience, but it's a real slice of classic 1940s comics noir.
