Everyone Can Get their 15 Minutes This August from AmazeInk

When superheroes are part of everyday life, they're bound to have close encounters with ordinary folks and ordinary problems. And not every superhero is going to be a Superman. 15 Minutes, a new full-color comic book series from AmazeInk by Bob Elinskas, David Hedgecock and Mike Kelleher, takes a fresh look at superhoeroes, superheroics and brief encounters with fame, of which, as the saying goes, everyone has their fifteen minutes.

"I've been doing a great deal of thinking about the world of superheroes and how it would be to live in a world where superheroes exist," said 15 Minutes writer Bob Elinskas. "You'd have all kinds around, from the really powerful and popular to the obscure and lame -- and probably far more of the lame and obscure than the popular and powerful. Everyone would bump into a hero or villain at some point. So, we'd all have stories to tell of our brush with 'fame.'"

One of the stories in issue one of 15 Minutes relates one man's fifteen minutes. Frank is mistakenly delivered a device with powers he can't hope to understand, much less control. Nevertheless, he feels he must use the device for good in the world. Frank's noble intentions -- and his friends' reaction to them -- show what Elinskas most wants to get across in 15 Minutes: "all the wild, weird and wonderful ways people handle their fifteen minutes of fame."

Elinskas's stories are penciled by David Hedgecock and inked and colored by Mike Kelleher. "The artwork is not only eye-catching and dynamic, but very expressive in its depiction of characters -- both super-powered and ordinary people," said SLG's editor-in-chief Jennifer de Guzman. "David and Mike have really captured Elinskas's ambition for these stories, which is for them to be fun and entertaining, but also for them to be glimpses into human nature."

AmazeInk, the all-ages and adventure imprint of SLG Publishing, has been moving toward publishing more full-color comics, such as Bombaby by Antony Mazzotta, Little Gloomy Adventures by Landry Walker and Eric Jones and the recent graphic novel Emily and the Intergalactic Lemonade Stand by Ian and Tyson Smith. "The goal is for AmazeInk comics to be lighthearted and accessible," said de Guzman, "and 15 Minutes fits the bill perfectly. It's full of both action and heart."

Issue one of 15 Minutes will be available in August of 2004, and it will be published quarterly. A preview of 15 Minutes is available at SLG Publishing's website.
