At Belle Reve Prison, Amanda Waller related the legend of the "Lazarus Pit" -- a magical pool whose waters could heal any injury and even raise the dead. A scientist named Dr. Harris Blaine had spent years trying to prove that Pit was real, and to find its location. However, Blaine had recently announced he was giving up the search, having concluded that the Pit was indeed a myth. The abruptness of this made Waller suspicious, and she tasked the Suicide Squad to bring Blaine in for questioning -- both to find out what he may have discovered, and to protect him from other factions who may have come to the same conclusion.

Sure enough, the Squad arrived at Blaine's Gotham City home, only to find the front door broken down and a group of intruders taking Blaine prisoner. One of them, a wheelchair-bound woman calling herself Oracle, was attempting to hack into Blaine's personal computer. The other Birds of Prey jumped forward to attack: The amazonian Big Barda, sonic-screaming Black Canary, crossbow-armed Huntress, and sword-wielding Katana.

The Squad, being equal opportunity thugs, targeted Oracle first to prevent her from finding whatever she was looking for in Blaine's computer. They quickly recognized her as Barbara Gordon, the Congresswoman they'd met during their mission to Atlantis [see Episode #14]. Evidently, she was hoping to use the Lazarus Pit to heal the injuries that had left her wheelchair-bound. She and her companions fought valiantly, but in the end were no match for the powerhouses of the Squad.

Blaine admitted that he had indeed located the Lazarus Pit, and had selfishly kept it a secret so he could use it first to cure his cancer. The Squad took him into protective custody and arranged transport to the location he revealed: the Swiss Alps.

[Loot Drops: Black Canary's Tonsils (Sonic Blast), Katana's Ghost (Devitalization Ray Carrier that can be attached to any attack).]

The Squad arrived in Switzerland, only to be ambushed at the airport by the immortal Vandal Savage and his colleagues in the Injustice Society: the psychic Brain Wave, frosty Icicle, and the triple-jointed Ragdoll. It seemed that Savage, alive since the caveman era, was finally showing signs of aging, and believed the Lazarus Pit could restore his immortality.

Savage used his high-tech gravity gun to alternately pin his foes down, or send them flying into the air, while Icicle immobilized others with rings of ice. Ragdoll grappled Bucky in an attempt to strangle him, but was out-muscled by the hearty Squad member. Brain Wave attempted to take control of Chemical Lad's mind, but he countered by using the cards he confiscated from the Royal Flush Gang [see Episode #19] to suppress the big-domed villain's powers. After a pitched battle, the Squad emerged triumphant and after a day's rest, made their way to the designated location in the mountains of Switzerland.

[Loot Drops: Icicle's Suit (Ice Armor), Vandal Savage's Toupee (Experience Levels).]

Once again, the Squad found themselves late to the party. Waiting for them at the abandoned ski chalet was none other than criminal scientist Lex Luthor, who sought out the Lazarus Pit to resurrect his late wife, Ardora. Accompanying him were the heat-generating Microwave Man, the human battering ram called the Purple Pile-Driver, and the high-speed, wind-generating Whirlicane.

Captain Republican and Bucky concentrated on Luthor, believing him to be the biggest threat. While Bucky drained Luthor's energy [Devitalization Ray], the Captain delivered a beating to the armored scientist that even Superman might've been impressed by. Mr. Roboto did not fare as well, and a combination of Whirlicane's gale-force winds [Vibratory Blast] and Pile-Driver's ramming attacks eventually took him out of the fight. Once they'd disabled Luthor, Cap and Bucky started coordinating attacks with Chemical Lad, ganging up on each of the other villains in turn. Despite taking heavy damage, this strategy proved successful, and the Squad finally emerged triumphant.

It was largely a pyrrhic victory, however. The Squad did indeed uncover the Lazarus Pit in a cave deep below the chalet, but it proved to be mostly dried up, although they managed to salvage a few precious drops of the magical liquid.

[Loot Drops: Lazarus Pit Juice (Heals all HP and PP damage), Purple Pile-Driver's Helmet (Flight, Invulnerability to Kinetic damage), and Whirlicane's Boots (Super-Speed).]

[The player characters earned 3 character points each, giving them a total of 160.]
