Chasing the renegade sorceress Morgana down a long tunnel, the heroes found themselves suddenly outside in a wintry landscape. There was evidence of a recent battle, with damaged buildings and many dead and injured civilians. A survey of their surroundings led them to realize they had been somehow transported to Belgium in the year 1945, specifically the Siege of Bastogne. The team soon found themselves facing the remaining German forces, including several superhumans:

After defeating the German "Ubermenchen", the Gladiators spotted another tunnel leading down into the Earth. This time, they were lead to a stone-walled underground complex...a dungeon, of sorts. Within the halls were a number of monstrous creatures, which attacked on sight:

Having successfully cleared the dungeon, a tunnel lead them once more to an outdoor area. If Bastogne had been battle-damaged, this city was battle-devastated, as if by a nuclear war. Here, they finally caught up with the fleeing Morgana and the mastermind behind the schemes, another former hero named Chronicle. A time-traveler from the 35th century, Chronicle had briefly worked with the Gladiators while secretly plotting to conquer the entire timestream. The team prevented him from retrieving Doctor Apocalypse's ashes and Hourglass' time-shifter, thwarting his scheme, and now the only thing left for him was revenge. He had tamed several of the weird mutated creatures native to this irradiated landscape, and sent them against his foes:

With Chronicle and his minions defeated, the Gladiators were able to backtrack through the tunnels back to the 21st century, sealing the tunnel with Chronicle's own time-device. For better or worse, the past, present, and future were still intact.
