When I started up the Glori webcomic, I was way ahead -- I had the first 14 pages completely done before I ever started posting them. But that lead time has slowly eroded away, and now I'm just barely ahead. Friday's strip is done and uploaded, and Monday's is about half colored. The next ten pages have been relettered. All the artwork for this storyline (62 pages) is scanned in. I don't expect I'll be missing any deadlines. Really, the coloring doesn't take that long, because of the simple style I'm using. It's just that I find it kind of tedious, so I keep finding excuses to put it off.
I do like how the pages are turning out, though. I started out by listing what I definitely DIDN'T want to do -- no airbrushing, no "day-glo" colors, no filters or fancy fx -- and I'm kind of slowly hacking out an aesthetic from there.
Now I just need to figure out what color these ninja assassin types should be. Well, they're out in the desert, so I guess they're more like Hashshashin than ninjas. Black would be traditional, but in this case they're running around in broad daylight, so that would actually not be very good camouflage. I guess they should be sand-dune-colored. We'll see on Monday...
